About Youth Collective

What is Youth Collective?

Youth Collective is a youth media and education initiative powered by public media that aims to amplify youth voice and provide a platform for young people to engage in the important work of building a more ethical world. Our goals:

  • Promote understanding of differing viewpoints

  • Foster civil dialogue about ethical issues

  • Inspire young people to take action in their communities

The WNET Group, New York's flagship PBS station, started Youth Collective in 2019. Since then we’ve produced annual youth convenings, media created by, with, and for youth, and ethics education resources for young people.

What do we do?

Events

YouthSummit2020-3111.jpg

From 2019 - 2022, we held annual youth summits, bringing together young people to discuss issues and gain skills that matter to them. Previous summit themes included:

  • Stop the Spread! Misinformation and Ethics

  • Youth Ethics Table: From Passion to Action

  • Beyond the Vote: Gen Z and Civic Engagement

  • Confronting Bias

In June 2023, we will hold our first ever Youth Collective Film Festival!! Learn about the festival and how to submit here.

Youth Advisory Board

Our Youth Advisory Board is a group of high school and early college students from the New York metro area who engage in conversations about important issues relevant to Gen Z. They shape our media creation and activities such as our annual Youth Summit.

Learn more about our advisors and their passions by checking out our #MeetYC at our Instagram.

Media

We create media that features young people’s diverse perspectives on issues they care about, as well as stories of youth leaders taking action. We partner with Reel Works, Adolescent Content, and Gen Z creators.
