Youth Truth: What’s Going On? (Presented by Carnegie Hall and Youth Truth)

Carnegie Hall’s Youth Truth team will break down the lyrics of Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On?” to address current events going on around the world including but not limited to: Domestic Terrorism, Protesting, Police Brutality, and the Pursuit of Justice.

 

Documentary Filmmaking for Change (Presented by Films BYkids)

Interested in documentary filmmaking? Films BYkids gives young people a stage to share their perspectives on today’s most pressing global issues by empowering them to explore topics that impact us all. In this session, explore how filmmaking can be a form of action and shed light on issues that are important to you.

 

The Power of Local Elections (Presented by NYC Votes)

During this presentation, NYC Votes will lead a discussion about how to increase voter turnout rates, even before you’re old enough to vote, and how our local elections impact us. We’ll also share resources to help you take action in your community when it comes to getting out the vote.

 

Local Leadership for the Global Goals (Presented by United Nations Association of the USA)

In this decade of action we have left to achieve the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, we need all hands on deck. This session will give students the tools to identify their passions and demonstrate how their local action has a global impact through the United Nations Association of the USA.

Reshape the Narrative: How Your Youth Activism Can Push Towards Anti-Racist Education (Presented by Diversify Our Narrative)

With recent movements such as BLM and #StopAsianHate, we must continue working towards an anti racist future. Learn how to harness the power of youth activism to make real, long-standing change at the local level through a workshop led by Diversify Our Narrative. Specific focus on implementation of anti-racist literature and education policy.

 

Unpacking Social Media: Gen Z Memes and Movements (Presented by JUV Consulting)

In this session, we’ll be assessing the role of social media in building brands, voices, and narratives in the 21st century. How does social media become an accelerator (or inhibitor) for all these memes and movements?

 

LGBTQ Allyship and Suicide Prevention (Presented by The Trevor Project)

The Trevor Project, the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ youth, estimates that more than 1.8 million LGBTQ youth seriously consider suicide each year in the U.S. Participants will learn about risk factors for LGBTQ youth suicide — and what can be done to prevent it, including how to create safe, affirming environments and how to respond to warning signs for suicide noticed in someone else.

Powermapping: How to Start Dismantling Structural Racism (Presented by ERASE Racism NY)

During this session, we will look at some of the ways that students can create meaningful change in their schools and communities. We will talk about hopes and dreams for our communities, and talk about making it happen -- from gathering allies, drawing a power map, and raising awareness.

 

Toxic or Not - Building a Culture of “Good” Gaming (Presented by Games for Change)

What does it mean to be a “good" gamer? Games for Change invites you to participate in a lightning round of the ‘Good Gamer Game Show.’ Climb the leaderboard, share your perspective on video game culture, and power-up a movement to make gaming more inclusive, safe and fun for everyone.It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

 

Young People on the Climate Frontlines (Presented by Peril & Promise and The Grey Water Project)

Climate-change focused media project Peril and Promise will be joined by youth climate activist Shreya Ramachandran, featured in the film “The Power of Us.” Shreya will talk about her groundbreaking grey water project and how fellow young people can get involved looking to the future.
